Each category of ICD-10 is divided into specific codes, consisting of a single letter and a number.
These codes can be used to identify a particular diagnosis. They are used for medical billing and record
keeping, as well as for public health surveillance and statistical analysis.
The following supplementary subclassification to indicate the site of involvement is provided for optional use with appropriate categories in the block on dorsopathies, except categories M50 and M51; see also note at the beginning of this chapter.
