Active Ingredient: Salbutamol
Salbutamol provides short-acting (4-6 hour) bronchodilation with a fast onset (within 5 minutes) in reversible airways obstruction. It is indicated for the relief of severe bronchospasm.
For this indication, competent medicine agencies globally authorize below treatments:
Subcutaneous
8 - 8 ug per kg of body weight
From 8 To 8 ug per kg of body weight once every day
500 micrograms (8 micrograms/kg body weight) and repeated every four hours as required.
Intramuscular
8 - 8 ug per kg of body weight
From 8 To 8 ug per kg of body weight once every day
500 micrograms (8 micrograms/kg body weight) and repeated every four hours as required.
Intravenous
4 - 4 ug per kg of body weight
From 4 To 4 ug per kg of body weight once every day
250 micrograms (4 micrograms/kg bodyweight) injected slowly. If necessary the dose may be repeated.
The use of salbutamol Injection 500 micrograms in 1ml (500 micrograms/ml, for intravenenous administration may be facilitated by dilution to 10ml with Water for Injection BP (final concentration of 50 micrograms/ml) and 5mls of the diluted preparation (250 micrograms/5ml) administered by slow intravenous injection.
Respiratory (Inhalation)
10 - 40 mg
From 2.5 To 10 mg 4 time(s) per day every day
2.5 mg to 5 mg salbutamol up to four times a day. Up to 40 mg per day can be given under strict medical supervision in hospital.
