Active Ingredient: Terbutaline
Terbutaline is a selective beta2-adrenergic agonist recommended for the relief of bronchospasm in bronchial asthma and other bronchopulmonary disorders in which bronchospasm or reversible airways obstruction is a complicating factor.
For this indication, competent medicine agencies globally authorize below treatments:
For:
Respiratory (Inhalation), 0.5 milligrams terbutaline, 1 to 4 times daily. The maximum allowed total dose is 2 milligrams terbutaline daily.
One inhalation (0.5 mg) as required. Not more than 4 inhalations should be required in any 24-hour period.
The duration of action of a single dose is up to 6 hours.
For:
Oral, 2.5 milligrams terbutaline, 2 to 3 times daily.
The starting dose should normally be 2.5mg (half a tablet) 2 times in 24 hours. However, in some patients, the dose may need to be increased to 2.5mg 3 times in 24 hours.
For:
Oral, 2.5 milligrams terbutaline, 3 times daily, over the duration of 1 to 2 weeks. Afterwards, oral, 5 milligrams terbutaline, 3 times daily.
During the first 1-2 weeks, 2.5 mg (half a tablet) 3 times in a 24-hour period is recommended. The dose may then be increased to 5 mg (1 tablet) 3 times in a 24-hour period to achieve adequate bronchodilation.
For:
Intravenous, between 0.25 milligrams terbutaline and 0.5 milligrams terbutaline, 1 to 4 times daily.
When a rapid therapeutic response is required, terbutaline can be administered by i.v. bolus. When given as an i.v. bolus the injection must be made slowly noting patient response.
0.25-0.5 mg up to four times a day.
For:
Subcutaneous, between 0.25 milligrams terbutaline and 0.5 milligrams terbutaline, 1 to 4 times daily.
When a rapid therapeutic response is required, terbutaline can be administered by subcutaneous route.
0.25-0.5 mg up to four times a day.
For:
Intramuscular, between 0.25 milligrams terbutaline and 0.5 milligrams terbutaline, 1 to 4 times daily.
When a rapid therapeutic response is required, terbutaline can be administered by intramuscular route.
0.25-0.5 mg up to four times a day.
For:
Intravenous, 0.01 milligrams terbutaline per kilogram of body weight, one dose.
When a rapid therapeutic response is required, terbutaline can be administered by i.v. bolus. When given as an i.v. bolus the injection must be made slowly noting patient response.
