Active Ingredient: Carbamazepine
Carbamazepine is indicated for generalised tonic-clonic and partial seizures.
Carbamazepine is not usually effective in absences (petit mal) and myoclonic seizures. Moreover, anecdotal evidence suggests that seizure exacerbation may occur in patients with atypical absences.
For this indication, competent medicine agencies globally authorize below treatments:
Oral
10 - 20 mg per kg of body weight
From 5 To 10 mg per kg of body weight 2 time(s) per day every day
It is advised that with all formulations of carbamazepine, a gradually increasing dosage scheme is used and this should be adjusted to suit the needs of the individual patient.
Usual dosage 10-20 mg/kg bodyweight daily in several divided doses.
It may be taken during, after or between meals.
Rectal
100 - 1,000 mg
From 25 To 250 mg 4 time(s) per day every day
100 mg
