Nimotuzumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that binds specifically to the extracellular domain of the human epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) by interacting with epitope located in the extra cellular domain of this receptor. Nimotuzumab is a humanized form of murine IgG2a monoclonal antibody R3 (ior egf/r3). The humanized Nimotuzumab IgG1 antibody is obtained by cloning the CDRs of the murine antibody into human Frs (Eu for heavy chain and REI for light chain) and the reintroduction of 3 murine residues into human Frs of heavy chain.
