Mecobalamin promotes axonal transport and axonal regeneration. Mecobalamin promotes myelination (phospholipid synthesis). Methylcobalamin is used in the treatment of peripheral neuropathy, diabetic neuropathy, and as a preliminary treatment for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
