Autologous chondrocytes

Therapeutic indications

Autologous chondrocytes is indicated for:

Articular cartilage defect

Population group: only adults (18 - 65 years old)

Repair of symptomatic articular cartilage defects of the femoral condyle and the patella of the knee (International Cartilage Regeneration & Joint Preservation Society [ICRS] grade III or IV) with defect sizes up to 10 cm² in adults and adolescents with closed epiphyseal growth plate in the affected joint.

Contraindications

Autologous chondrocytes is contraindicated in the following cases:

Not fully closed epiphyseal growth plate in the affected joint

Delayed epiphyseal closure

Advanced osteoarthritis, primary (generalised) osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis

Hepatitits B (HBV), hepatitis C (HCV), HIV I/II

at least one of
Type B viral hepatitis
Viral hepatitis C
Human immunodeficiency virus I infection
Human immunodeficiency virus II infection
