Lactitol Other names: Lacty

Chemical formula: C₁₂H₂₄O₁₁  Molecular mass: 344.312 g/mol  PubChem compound: 157355

Interactions

Lactitol interacts in the following cases:

Antacids, neomycin

Antacids and neomycin should not be administered concomitantly with lactitol in cirrhotic patients with hepatic encephalopathy, because they may neutralize the acidification effect of lactitol in the faeces.

Thiazides, corticosteroids, carbenoxolone, amphotericin B, cardiac glycosides

Lactitol may increase the loss of potassium caused by other medicines (eg thiazides, corticosteroids, carbenoxolone, amphotericin B). Potassium deprivation may increase the risk of toxic side effects from cardiac glycosides.
