Metformin and Empagliflozin

Therapeutic indications

Metformin and Empagliflozin is indicated for:

Diabetes mellitus type 2

Population group: only adults (18 years old or older)

Empagliflozin/metformin combination is indicated for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise:

in patients insufficiently controlled on their maximally tolerated dose of metformin alone
in combination with other medicinal products for the treatment of diabetes, in patients insufficiently controlled with metformin and these medicinal products
in patients already being treated with the combination of empagliflozin and metformin as separate tablets.

For this indication, competent medicine agencies globally authorize below treatments (click for details):

5 mg or 12.5 mg of empagliflozin and 850 mg or 1,000 mg of metformin twice daily

Contraindications
