Therapeutic indications

Piracetam is indicated for:

Vascular dementia

Population group: only adults (18 years old or older)

For the possible improvement of the symptoms of vascular dementia.

2.4 g daily, in 2-4 divided doses

Cortical myoclonus

Population group: only adults (18 years old or older)

Treatment of cortical myoclonus, should be used in combination with other anti-myoclonic therapies.

For this indication, competent medicine agencies globally authorize below treatments (click for details):

7.2-20 g daily in two or three sub-doses

Contraindications

Piracetam is contraindicated in the following cases:

End-stage renal disease

Renal failure stage 5: Kidney failure (GFR <15 mL/min/1.73 m2 or dialysis)

Cerebral haemorrhage

Cerebral hemorrhage

Huntington's chorea
