Therapeutic indications

Daprodustat is indicated for:

Anemia due to chronic kidney disease in patients on dialysis

Population group: only adults (18 years old or older)

Daprodustat is indicated for the treatment of anemia due to chronic kidney disease (CKD) in adults who have been receiving dialysis for at least four months.

Limitations of Use

Daprodustat has not been shown to improve quality of life, fatigue, or patient well-being.

Daprodustat is not indicated for use:

As a substitute for red blood cell transfusions in patients who require immediate correction of anemia.
For treatment of anemia of chronic kidney disease in patients who are not on dialysis.

For this indication, competent medicine agencies globally authorize below treatments (click for details):

1-4 mg once daily for one month and 1-24 mg thereafter depending on hemoglobin level (g/dL)

Contraindications

Daprodustat is contraindicated in the following cases:

Lactation

Severe hepatic impairment

Hepatic failure stage IV

Strong CYP2C8 inhibitors

Uncontrolled hypertension

Hypertension
