Therapeutic indications

Tolvaptan is indicated for:

Hyponatremia secondary to the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH)

Population group: only adults (18 - 65 years old)

Tolvaptan is indicated in adults for the treatment of hyponatremia secondary to the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH).

15-60 mg once daily

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD)

Population group: only adults (18 - 65 years old)

Tolvaptan is indicated to slow the progression of cyst development and renal insufficiency of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) in adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 1 to 4 at initiation of treatment with evidence of rapidly progressing disease.

Contraindications

Tolvaptan is contraindicated in the following cases:

Pregnancy

Lactation

Anuria

Volume depletion

† Volume depletion, extrarenal loss

Hypovolemic hyponatremia

Hyponatremia with extracellular fluid depletion

Hypernatremia

Sodium overload
