MAUREEN

This brand name is authorized in Nigeria

Active ingredients

The drug MAUREEN contains a combination of these active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs):

1 Beclometasone
UNII 5B307S63B2 - BECLOMETHASONE DIPROPIONATE

Beclometasone is a pro-drug with weak glucocorticoid receptor binding affinity. It is extensively hydrolysed via esterase enzymes to the active metabolite beclometasone-17-monopropionate (B-17-MP), which has potent topical anti-inflammatory activity.

2 Clotrimazole
UNII G07GZ97H65 - CLOTRIMAZOLE

Clotrimazole acts against fungi by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis. Inhibition of ergosterol synthesis leads to structural and functional impairment of the fungal cytoplasmic membrane. Clotrimazole has a broad antimycotic spectrum of action in vitro and in vivo, which includes dermatophytes, yeasts, moulds, etc.

3 Clobetasol propionate
UNII 779619577M - CLOBETASOL PROPIONATE

Clobetasol propionate, like other topical corticosteroids, has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties. Corticosteroids are thought to act by the induction of phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins, collectively called lipocortins. It is postulated that these proteins control the biosynthesis of potent mediators of inflammation such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes by inhibiting the release of their common precursor arachidonic acid.

4 Gentamicin
UNII 8X7386QRLV - GENTAMICIN SULFATE

Gentamicin is usually bactericidal in action. Although the exact mechanism of action has not been fully elucidated, the drug appears to inhibit protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria by irreversibly binding to 30S ribosomal subunits.
